A collection of a few of my favorite covers which I art directed and designed after the launch of a highly successful major redesign of the Reader's Digest brand in 2014. The new visual identity was intended to be reminiscent of the iconic look of the heyday of RD, but with an approachable, contemporary flair. Each cover featured a removable flap with a stylized table of contents that. The flap device enables us to feature beautiful, dramatic cover images underneath with few or no cover lines. The challenge was to invent a format that could accommodate a wide variety of subject matters and image styles, but would maintain a cohesive, recognizable look from month to month.
